4. Dartmouth Castle has guarded the narrow entrance to the Dart Estuary and and vibrant port of Dartmouth for over 600 years.

5. Devon has been awarded Fair-trade County status by the Fair-trade Foundation.

National Sick Day

The day that most of us are more likely to call in sick has been revealed and this year it falls on 7 February. On the first Monday in February, the nation simply finds thinking about all of our outstanding Christmas credit card bills, gloomy British weather and the long wait until the next bank holiday just a little bit too much to deal with.
